A game has to do more than just be hard and have a dark fantasy setting to be considered a Soulsborne game. It's highly likely people will compare it to Dark Souls, and that's just flat out wrong. Right off the bat, this game is not a Soulsborne game. However, you have to learn to crawl before you can walk. From the current build, it could be technically possible to defeat the final boss using just your starting sword and a hell of a lot of skills, and we all look forward to those speed runs. It's by design of the game that you're expected to die. Problem is, the world is a tad unforgiving, so this guide was put together to help you figure out the ropes of Dead Cells, so you have a more solid foot to stand on when you go toe-to-toe with your first elite and then your first boss. Still, you'd probably like to be making some progress, right? Of course you do.

Doesn't seem like it matters, because in Dead Cells, it truly is about the journey not the destination (considering how fun it is just to move through the levels). A wriggling mass of green ick and slimy gross has just slithered its way into your headless corpse, and now you're a mute badass on a quest. It's crucial that you do not ignore any of the abilities if you wish to reach the last chamber in the game.So you're dead. Description of specific power ups can be found in the right chapter of the game guide. The first stage of skills requires from 5 to 15 cells but further upgrades can cost dozens or even hundreds units. The process is defined by percentile chance, so the only solution is to complete the game several times. There is no special way to obtain specific abilities faster.
#DEAD CELLS MAIN CHARACTER UPGRADE#
Get them and the accessories, weapons and passive abilities will become available in the upgrade menu. You will have to unlock them by defeating enemies and collect Blueprints. Keep in mind that not all abilities will be available from the very beginning. Once in the safe zone, speak with the blue NPC, where you can exchange cells for skills. A significant number of cells will not give you anything, except one Steam achievement that you can unlock by losing your cells. Remember that it is better to use your cells, even if you won't unlock anything, rather than take them to another location. You will skip some bonuses but at the same time you will save the remaining ones and your hero will become stronger during the next attempt.īetween every location, you will end up in a place where you can spend your cells, and restore your health. If you unlocked a passage to another location, and it is highly possible that the next encounter with opponents will finish you, you should proceed forward. The key to success and constant development of your hero is to master your reflexes, game basics and make the right decisions. If you die during your adventure, all unused cells will be gone for good. The same goes for elite opponents and bosses - if you defeat them, your reward will be significant. The number of cells will increase accordingly to the level. You can also get cells by opening treasure chests. Thus, one should reveal the entire map to gather as many of them as possible. The more opponents you defeat, the greater is the possibility to obtain cells. Cells are randomly dropped by enemies that you will face on your way.

You can use them to unlock permanent skills and bonuses that will be assign to your hero, regardless how many times you will die while exploring further levels.
